Hang Gliding

One of the simplest forms of human flight is hang gliding which are those considered to be having foot-launched wing without any motor fitted to it. Rigid frame present in the hang glider maintains the shape of the wing. A prone position is adopted by the pilot for flying. The wing of the hang glider is made of Mylar or rip-stop nylon which is built on an aluminium frame.

People might be wondering how hang gliding is controlled. The weight of the pilot is that which controls the riding of the hang glider. The name hang glider was attained from the way the pilot hangs from the glider’s frame connected through a strap. The center of the gravity of the glider is controlled by moving forward, backward and even side to side which is done at the end of the strap. This helps in the speed control and turning as this assists the hang glider to either roll or pitch in the required direction in regard to the pilot’s motion.
